Our story
Ethiopia Traditions Travel was born from a deep commitment to a country of superlatives and contrasts, long overlooked by mainstream tourism routes. Our passion: to showcase Éthiopie differently, bringing travelers closest to the communities that bring it to life.
The agency was founded in 2004 in Addis Ababa by a Belgian-Ethiopian couple who wanted to share an extraordinary land — nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a millennia-old history, a culture untouched by colonization, and landscapes ranging from the Danakil Desert to the Simien Highlands. Over the years, the team has patiently built a network of local partners, guides, and host families throughout the historic north and the southern valleys.
Anna and Teshu have been running the agency since its inception. Drawing from their dual cultural background, they bring a distinctive approach to travel: bridging the European perspective with intimate knowledge of Ethiopia's terrain. Alongside them, English-speaking guides and drivers accompany each itinerary—trekking in the Balé, tankwa navigation, village stays, encounters with southern peoples—with a constant commitment to responsible tourism that genuinely benefits the communities visited.

Yes, as much as possible. Changes made more than 30 days before departure are generally free of charge (excluding hotel rate differences). As your departure approaches, some bookings become less flexible — we always inform you of your options before confirmation.
